Back in 2020, (wow 7 years already) – I discovered that A&M had run a “massive promotional campaign” called Creed Taylor Month; it was in September 1968 in Canada and October 1968 in the USA. It is therefore fitting that 58 years later, this year, as part of Creed Taylor Month, I will be discussing the forthcoming book by David Suttor on Creed. It is an authorized biography that Creed participated in prior to his death.
David and I will be discussing all things Creed Taylor and the book as part of this year’s “Great Lakes African American Writers Conference (GLWAAC) in the Jazz Authors Series – The session will be streamed live in the auditorium and, thanks to the organizers’ largesse, will also be available to join online for free [1]https://www.eventbrite.com/e/author-talk-david-sutter-tickets-1999283647208?aff=ebdssbdestsearch
I have a final copy of the book and have read it through. The final edits, layout, typeface, and photographs really bring the book alive. Congratulations to David; I can’t wait to ask him questions about it. If you’d like to join us, you can register for a place for the talk on Saturday, September 19th at 2 PM Detroit/Eastern time and 12 PM for me. Registration is here.
