Coinciding with the launch of David Sutter’s new book on Creed Taylor comes this Ace Records double album compilation “Incorporated! CTI Records And The Genius Of Creed Taylor”.
The album is available for pre-order now and will be shipping in late October. It contains a “best of” CTI 1969-1974 using many well-known and some lesser-known great tracks. The tracks were compiled by “ace” staff consultant, founder of ACE/BGP and Acid Jazz label head, DJ Dean Rudland [1]https://acerecords.co.uk/about-us/staff-consultants/dean-rudland and mastered by Nick Robbins at Sound Mastering in London [2]https://www.discogs.com/artist/261168.
The album includes full-length versions of the tracks with no corners cut. Ten tracks feature jazz funk and Taylor’s own blend of orchestrated jazz fusion. It’s one of the first new CTI compilations in almost 20 years and a great reminder of the importance of the label and the legacy of Creed Taylor.

Available for pre-order in the USA via Dusty Groove in Chicago, the album cost $35.99 inc. $4 shipping. Dusty Groove are also taking pre-orders for the CD. It is expected to be carried by US distributors including Rough Trade and other ACE Records distributors.
The Book
As a reminder, David Sutter’s authorized biography of Creed Taylor will also be available at the end of October. I will be discussing the book with David in September at an event put on by the Chicago Public Library, with details to follow.
