This is an interesting piece in the New York Times from March 5th entitled “The Wizard of Vinyl Is in Kansas.”
It is an article about Chad Kassem and Acoustic Sounds/Analogue Productions in Salina Kansas. To be completely honest, I don’t have any of their pressings, mostly they’ve not done much of note from the Creed Taylor pantheon of recordings. They did however remaster and reissue “The Great Kai & J. J.” album from February 1961. It was rereleased last month, 64-years after release [1]https://www.discogs.com/release/33218298-JJ-Johnson-Kai-Winding-The-Great-Kai-J-J. This is a link to copies for sale from discogs.
For those of you that don’t think it’s sacrilege, here is a digital version of the remaster. Have you got any of the Acoustic Sound / Quality Record Pressing remasters, what is your opinion on them?

Acoustic Sound Pressings are amazing. I own several. They just pressed an all analog Miles Davis vinyl from the original Kind of Blue sessions. They call it Birth of the Blue. It is phenomenal. I would love for them to tackle more Creed Taylor projects.
Thanks for the comment Jeff. I will order a copy of the Kai & JJ album and see how it sounds.
I can see why they would do much of Creed’s output from the 1970’s, but even in there are some great straightahead contemporary albums outside of the ones everyone already knows about. Trawling the lessor known albums from his period at Verve would also produce some gems.
I guess really it’s a question of knowing their market, if it’s the high brow jazz cognoscente then perhaps even an Acoustic Sounds release wouldn’t work as it was “produced by Creed Taylor”.
Thanks again, always great to hear from readers!
