Exploring CTI and A&M: CTI Album Mix Tracks Vol. 2

Volume 2 of the CTI Albums mix features one track from each of the 14x albums produced by Creed Taylor for A&M Records, showcasing a blend of vinyl recordings to end out the series. Noteworthy highlights include dual versions of some tracks and the involvement of various artists, primarily George Benson, who adds depth to the collection. This mix marks a transition in Taylor’s production style, reflecting evolving musical trends.

More Playlists and Listening

Hey there! If you loved the Christmas mix, I’ve got more tunes lined up. I’m digging into Jack Teagarden’s work and his rare 1954 Christmas track. Plus, there’s a huge 5-hour Christmas mix from Radio FREE Crocket. If you want a break from holiday jams, check out the 17-hour “Lost & Found” jazz collection by DJ Jazzcat. Happy listening!

Body Music Longmont – Mix + setlist

I had a great time Saturday May 20th doing my third ever DJ/Selector set playing exclusively CTI / KUDU tracks on vinyl. I made a number of changes from the first two sets, in total now I have a potential pick list of 54-tracks. Thanks to Body Music Longmont, Absolute Vinyl & Disco Witch for giving me a chance to […]

The CT Produced Holiday Mix

Jimmy Smith’s “Christmas Cookin’” album was released on December 10th, 1964[1]The Creed Taylor Christmas Album – Creed Taylor Produced (ctproduced.com) and back in 2020, I posted an entry with details of the Smith album, and a “fantasy” Creed Taylor Produced Christmas Album. I’ve reproduced the album links here, you can play it from Mixcloud or YouTube. If you want the […]

Mixcloud 4DJ’s Only – CTI Mixes

It’s fairwell to Mixcloud for me, but not goodbye. This post includes 2x 2-hour CTI mixes and my reason for not adding to my MIxcloud shows[1]https://www.mixcloud.com/ctproduced/. Mixcloud announced that “‍From December 1st, we’re introducing a maximum allowance of 10 published shows for creators on the basic tier.” For me that means no more Mixlcoud uploads. My current mixes will continue […]

CTI On CD Only Volume-2

To complete this years “Creed Taylor Month” here is “CTI On CD Only Volume-2”. Volume-1 was included in this post. As with the first volume, this mix was compiled to demonstrate some of the great music Creed released after the supposed demise of CTI in the late 1970’s or early 1980’s, depending on where you read about it. The music […]

The Tribute Mixes and Shows

It’s been a real pleasure to spend the last 2-weeks catching up with the various shows and mixes that have appeared following the announcement of Creed Taylor’s passing. Many of them are obvious journeys through the most well-known of the releases on CTI. As well as my favorites, I’ve listed one at the end which frankly Creed wouldn’t have listened […]

September is Creed Taylor Month

It’s with more than a hint of sadness that I’m continuing a tradition originally launched in 1968, Creed Taylor month. This year, in fact this week, marks the first time since the legendary producer Creed Taylor passed on to the great studio in the sky. I do plan to continue Creed Taylor month in future years. My prior Creed Taylor […]

The 24 Preludes of Roland Hanna

One of the lesser-known recording artists in the Creed Taylor pantheon is Sir Roland Hanna. Hanna was pianist on arguably the greatest of all CTI jazz tracks, Jim Hall’s “Concierto”. This post is to debut my fantasy Record Store Day 2022 release, “The 24 Preludes Of Roland Hanna”. The post includes the Preludes, immediately below; a video of Roland Hanna […]

The Life And Times Of Leon Bibb (playlist)

You might know Leon as a Broadway actor from the 40’s, or a Folk singer from the 50’s or 60’s, or a TV star from the 1970’s, but chances are you’ve never heard of him. The mix and playlists celebrates #blackhistorymonth and what would have been #leonbibb centenary, his 100th birthday February 7th, 2022. Leon lived in the shadow of […]

Shock – Drama, and the Toni Darnay story

In the best horror tradition, the people who put this record together are as pleasant and gentle a group a you’d like to have in for tea. Shock – Liner Notes – David Drew Zingg 1958 It’s probable that almost anyone that’s interested in the music produced by Creed Taylor has never heard of Toni Darnay? Heck, I’m guessing even […]
