I didn’t get much feedback from when I used to publish regular reissue updates, although I still get requests from time to time via the CONTACT form. “Where can I get Johnny Hammond on CD? Is Idris Muhammad available new, etc.?” I sat down today and decided to have a look at reissues, rereleases, and Record Store Day releases for the first half of 2025. In summary, it hasn’t been much of a year this year. There have been six vinyl reissues and, of course, the King Records releases via their Alltime collection of 120 releases on CD.

Off I went to collect the links to include here, and I casually stumbled across this article from Stereogum. It’s not good news; in fact, it’s doubly bad news for me. I live close to “Vinyl Me, Please” (VMP) in Denver. Although I go to Denver frequently, I’ve never been to their office. It seems it might be too late. Reminds me of my favorite aphorism, “You’ll never miss the water ’til the well runs dry.”

Twitter user, Vinyl On Sale, makes it sound like VMP is already dead. In a tweet, they said:

No new pressings. Monthly “selections” cobbled together from leftover stock. March and April records haven’t shipped. They’re ignoring the BBB, Shopify, PayPal, and most importantly, ghosting their own customers, many of whom are out hundreds (even thousands) of dollars in unfulfilled orders.
